2012 is a pivotal year for Mexico. The issues on the table are tough and will weigh a great deal in the upcoming 2012 Mexican presidential elections. The conference “Mexico Tomorrow: 2012, Ideas for the Future” will serve as an academic space in order to debate, analyze, reflect and propose possible paths for the many issues confronting Mexico today.
The Mexico Tomorrow conference will be held in the International House this upcoming April 21st and will count with the following panels:
Elections, Democracy and Equality
Economics, Poverty and Development
Security and Human Rights
As well as conferences by:
Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas – Former Mayor of Mexico City, Founder of the PRD
and
Ernesto Cordero – Former National Secretary of Social Development, Former National Minister of Finance and Public Credit

• Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas– Former mayor of Mexico City, three-time presidential candidate and founder of the Partido Revolucionario Democrático (PRD)
• Ernesto Cordero – Former National Secretary of Social Development, Former National Minister of Finance and Public Credit.
• Luis de la Barreda– Former Director of the Citizen Institute on Studies about Insecurity and founder of the Human Rights Comission of Mexico City.
• Olga Pellicer– Former ambassador of Mexico to Austria, Greece, and the United Nations. Professor and full-time researcher at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
• Jorge Chabat– Internationalist and full-time professor at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económica (CIDE), specialist in matters on Security and Drug Trafficking.
• Fernando Turner– Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University, President of the Mexican National Association of Independent Businessmen.
• Gerardo Esquivel– Doctor in Economics by Harvard University. Professor and full-time researcher at the Colegio de México. Adviser to the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
• Fausto Hernández– Head of the Economics Deparment from the Centro de Investigación y Desarrollo Económico (CIDE), professor and full-time researcher.
• Gina Zabludovsky– Sociology Professor and full-time researcher at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Winner of the “Premio Universidad Nacional en Investigación en Ciencias Sociales (2009)
• Jesús Silva Herzog Márquez– Journalist and political analyst in the media. Professor and researcher in the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
